Glenmuir student Gabrielle Sinclair wins ‘Make Jamaica Bully-Free’ poster award

Glenmuir High School student Gabrielle Sinclair, 16, won the 15-17 age group of the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) ‘Make Jamaica Bully-Free’ Poster Competition. Her winning entry uses art to call for greater acceptance of people who are often judged or left out because of their differences.
Headed ‘Cut Out Bullying’, Gabrielle's poster shows a range of people, including someone with Down syndrome, a person with a physical disability and a tall woman who is sometimes mistaken for a man. Its message is simple: embrace diversity and treat everyone with respect, whatever their appearance, abilities or other differences. As Gabrielle told JIS News, "what you wouldn't want for yourself, don't do to others."
The CPFSA staged the competition with the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information and the Transforming Education for National Development (TREND) Programme, as part of National Anti-Bullying Week, October 4 to 10, 2026. Gabrielle attended the National Anti-Bullying Day Forum at the Jamaica Conference Centre in Kingston on October 7 with her mother, Trudi-Ann Lord. She entered with encouragement from her teacher, Ms. Henry, and hopes more students will take part in competitions like this one.
Congratulations, Gabrielle. Supporting the arts is one of the ways the New York Chapter helps Glenmuir students grow, and work like this shows why it matters. To help more students develop their talents, make a gift or join the chapter.
